Carol Nie
After spending over 10 years as a senior member of the National Opinion Research team and in my own consulting business, I decided to use and to dedicate my management skills at the most senior levels of both large and small not for profit organizations. In Chicago, I served as Board President of the Body Politic Theatre, the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago and held positions at the Court Theatre, Music of the Baroque, Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, The Aids Foundation of Chicago and the Illinois Arts Alliance. During my 15 years in the Bay Area, I served as a member of the Executive Committee of the San Francisco Opera Board of Directors and as a board Member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Enterprise for High School Students, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, and the San Francisco Contemporary Chamber Players. In Sun Valley, I was Board President of the Sun Valley Music Festival (formally the SVSS) for a total of 8 years and have served in various other board capacities for an additional 12 years. During my tenure as President, the Festival grew into a world class orchestra and is now the largest free admission festival orchestra in the west. I also founded the year round School of Music (the Festival’s Music Institute) now in its 20th year and led the capital campaign to build with the Sun Valley Company a state of the art 1600 seat concert pavilion. I currently serve on the boards of the Spur Foundation, Opera Idaho, and sit on the Advisory Board of the Sun Valley Museum of Art, and am a founding member of the Wood River Women’s Charitable Foundation.
